ANybody in the Radiolgy field?

Featured Replies

I've been thinking about going into this field. I'm currently a Instrument Tech at our local hospital. They offer tuition reimbursement if your going to go into a medical field or any position they could hire you in. I've read this is a field with a lot of openings and fairly high pay. I'd like to find out what anybodies thoughts are about this field that work in it.

I am  in the radiology field and at work right now. Feel free to email me any questions.

The great thing about getting a degree in Radiology is that it can open up many other doors.

There are so many radiology related fields that you can cross over into and make yourself even more marketable. MRI, Nuclear medicine, CT, Cardiac cath, etc.

I started out as an X-ray tech in 95, since then I have went on to specialize in MRI, and cardiovascular interventional radiology. Then, I was recruited by a pacemaker company from the cath lab I worked in and have been a pacemaker/ICD rep ever since.

What I'm trying to say is that for me, it has been a great experience that does not limit you to one field.

Please don't take this as me saying " I've done this, and specilaized in that", I'm just saying, being an x-ray tech can be fun and rewarding, as well as providing a great stepping stone to other health care jobs.

Good luck.

Thank's for the replies guys and when I get some time I'll send ya some PM's.  Bass-Brat I plan on trying to talk to some of the different Rad departments we have and see if I can't shadow them for a day to see what it's like.

my mom is in that field and she does very well.
