shooting at the range tonight and my son is shooting my Ruger MKII. if you own one of these you know they are great shooters and hardly ever fail to fire. the thing starts jamming once in a while, i assume it needs to be cleaned. No. im watching my son and instead of a "CRACK" when he fires, we get more of a "POP".

IIRC, the MKII was only made in 22 cal...at least a long time ago it was...

I would think that if the report sounds different than what you would think is normal, that you may have some bad ammo.  Secondly, if you are shooting a cheap ammo like the Thunderbolt, quit.  Give the gun a good cleaning and start using clad ammo so the lead buildup is reduced.

The Mark II's are good little guns.  FWIW, 22's are a rim fire cartridge not centerfire, they are not reloadable.  Good Luck  8-)
