JF, it's funny... people do spend a lot of money on camera storage, but what's really funny, is that often, they spend that money on soft carry bags that don't offer near as much protection as a Pelican

Actually, the funniest part is I actually have a 1650 case.  But that was for back in the day when I was doing photography gigs.  Three strobe heads, two cameras, and six lenses fit in there.  The stands, tripods, and back drops traveled in a modified gym bag.

The only thing I'm concerned about in the boat is water.  I actually think a dry bag does a better job at that, even if you bring the camera out in the rain.  If you seal it right, it will also float.  The Pelican might float too, not sure about that, though.

I am a land surveyor and most of my survey equipment was delivered in a Pelican case of some sort. The only other Pelican I have bought is to store my DSLR and several lenses. The only thing that makes the pelican case better than ziplock, padded, etc. is you can stack heavy stuff on them. I like being able to throw the lawn chairs and suitcases right on top of my camera case without worrying about damage. Also if I forget and leave it in a hot car too long I don't have to worry about heat damage. JMHO

Maybe not in NJ, but you don't want to leave anything like a camera in your car around here in the summer. I had a Nissan pickup several years ago in AL that got so hot inside that all of the vents, radio trim, speedo housing, and speedo needle got soft and started drooping.

Thanks for the info. We are looking to purchase some really good scales and I was just curious. Is it the  ElectroSamson model?

Thanks,

Jason
