The NFL is modern day slavery

Recommended Posts

Seriously Adrian Peterson thinks so:

I am thinking Mr. Peterson would do well to step back from the microphones and crack open a history book or 2. He is doing himself and the players in general no favors by making comments like this.

Yeah he definitely did not choose the rights words to try to get his points across to everyone. They need publicists like real celebs.

Nothing much changes.  John Salley said the same thing when he was dealing with the Detroit Pistons many years ago.

I believe both sides share in the greed equally. Idiotic comments like those of Peterson will only make most people side with the owners. Modern-day slavery...at only 15 million per year plus all the perks one could ever want. Makes me want to sign up.

I'm just sick of listening to racial issues, everything can be turned into black vs. white... isn't there something else Peterson needs to worry about, like the earth quake, saving life?

A battle between billionaire and millionaire, I couldn't care less.

Agree. I don't really think it is a racial thing or that he was trying to make it one. He is just convinced that because they expect him to work HARD for his millions they are slave drivers.

What he needs to do is spend 6 months working for min wage at McD's. I did it for 4 years through high school. He thinks his job is "slavery" he should lay under a hot grill with a toothbrush and a small cup of degreaser scrubbing baseboards (did that plenty of times).

There is only one reason they get away with it. Fans keep paying the price, as long as they can make people pay to see them they will take the money. Ticket prices, concession prices, parking and everything else just gets higher and higher. An average family cannot afford to have a family day at a game anymore. But as long as enough people keep saying its okay we will spend the money to make others richer nothing will change.

I hear ya. Growing up we made a few family trips to Rich Stadium to watch the Bills and attempt to lose body parts to frostbite.

We would get a lot of folks to go along, tailgate in the lot, was a good time and while not cheap by any means, it was still affordable. Nowadays, the prices are ridiculous, especially in my new home in Charlotte. They really do not give a toot about the everyday fan anymore, it is all about the boxes and rich folks.

I stopped buying tickets when it hitted 100 bucks years ago, now I just spend Sunday on the water and FIOS the game and watch it at night.
