Favorite Rapala for Pike

Featured Replies

Wondering what Rapala people are using in the Wisconsin/Minnesota or Midwest area for Pike.  I hear a lot of fishermen use a J11/J13 jointed Gold Fluorescent Red minnow.  Is this a good choice?, or would a F13/F18 Firetiger original floating minnow be a better option?.

I have never heard of the gold flourescent red minnow but the firetiger and clown patterns have always been deadly for pike. #12 and #14 huskyjerks are always winners year round especailly in the spring and fall. Jointed rapalas are a great choice in the heat of the summer. #11 and #13 should work fine.

I go north in June and always do well on firetiger topwater thundersticks. Just twitch them and hang on.

Use the biggest husky jerk you can get and try some flashy colors.

Big huskey jerks. I like firetiger colors, but try something flashy as well, i have done good with gold/black ones. A little secret i have heard is that pink is absoloutley deadly when it comes to pike

I will be trying a big X Rap this year on my home lake.  Husky Jerk would be a great way to go. I have always had success with sliver and black back, firetiger is also a good choice.

A number 10 perch X Rap. However any number 11 or 13 jointed rapala is a close second.

Here on St. Clair I've had success with these:

Husky Jerk-clown, red head, firetiger

X-Rap-clown, hot head

X-Rap Jointed Shad-clown

Super Shad Rap-firetiger, perch, redhead

Falcon
