Me and my buddy want to try bowfishing for carp and we were just wondering if anyone had any advice on type of equipment, we were just going to use old alluminum arrows and milk jugs so that we could see where the fish were going once they were hit mostly I was just wondering about what pound test to use and whether to use mono or braid.

Hey, just got back from the trip this weekend. Checkin things here. Um :-/................well, yep, I talked to someone on the river, they said they used 85 pound mono. But I didn't ask him how he ties the line to the arrow, stupid me >. Hey, we should do another trip soon, not saying anything but, there is a touney at meadow grounds this weekend. Call soon.

Right now I don't have enough money to get in and do you mean this coming weekend or this weekend that is almost over right now. If you wanna go I suppose I could fish it with you but I am not going to have dad run down there again for a pretty uneventful day. Who are you going to ride with to go if it ain't already over?

I''l be there if moby needs a fishin partner he ain't quite sure just yet but I'll get there if he needs me. and why would ya dump water in the lake when dumpin more bass in would bring it up too ;D. Hope the catchins better that it was last time.because this does get old its fun but catchins funner yet.

Carp are such great sportfish on rod and reel, that I can't imagine "selectively harvesting" the biggest ones, only to be used as fertilizer, or to end up in the land fill.

IMPO their is no good excuse to kill Carp, nor any other Fish and Game, just for the sake of killing it.

However, it wouldn't be so bad if the most points went to the "smallest" fish. Wouldn't that show the most skillful shooting ? Plus, you would end up with a lake that had lots of big awesome Golden Sportfish swimming around, which could be C/R'd on light gear, rather than an "overpopulation" of dinks, which is often the result of selectively harvesting all of the biggest individuals, of any species.

BTW, In-Fisherman has done studies which show that Carp rarely, if ever, have any adverse effect on other species of sportfish. To back that finding, most of our best bass fisheries here in Cali, are also loaded with Carp.

I understand what you mean about selecting the smaller ones and not killin then just for fun but if I was gonna kill a fish like that had that much meat on it the only thing goin to waste would probably be the bones and head I would at least try to cook it and make a meal out of it. So therefore just like withh any other fish or game that I kill(except varmints) I would be eating.
