Texas Gulf Coast

Featured Replies

Just wondering how many folks we have that fish the Texas Coast. I'd like this to be a thread where we can share tips, and tacticts.

Hi- I've fished the Gulf coast down at Galveston every summer since I was a little kid....

We used to have a beach house down there...  the freeze in the late 80s really hurt.....

I've got a post on here wanting to know a couple different locations to fish for redfish/trout....  any suggestions are welcome......

I'm from Southeast,Texas and live near Sabine Lake. I fished "Keith's Lake" near Sabine Pass yesterday and only caught a few small flounder. This lake is full of huge blue crabs. I stopped fishing and started crabbing. I caught 5-dozen in no time, on hand lines. These things are great, if your familiar with barbque crabs? The trout and reds should start turning on in Sabine Lake soon.

wow... that's a nice catch... I've caught a few of them off the jetties in Galveston...... not really a crab fisherman though but my mom loves em...

I've always heard about Sabine, how great the fishing is there....

I have been to POC once and it was awesome... can't wait to go there again....

Since I have no boat looking for somewhere to wadefish???????????

I'm up in the Dallas area but fish the coast as often as possible.  My bud has a boat at Surfside and we go offshore about once or twice a month.  Weather has not been kind and the seas have bee rough so far this year though.  big

Got a fishing buddy going with me to Galveston or Port O Connor......

waiting for the winds to die down before we go........

At POC they used to have a ferry to take you to Matagorda Island State Park.... Like to take him there but don't know how we could get there.... since we are wade fisherman....

Anyways, any ideas or any hotspots you may have are appreciated........

I'm also in the Dallas area but my parents live in Matagorda. I've never fished down there, a shame because my parents have been there for 7 years and I go down at least 3 times a year. Hopefully that'll change soon. I'm relatively new to fishing and I usually only go down there for holidays or big family gatherings (5 sisters, 2 brothers, and all thier spouses, kids, etc.) so there's not usually a whole lot of time to "get away", but I will someday......

just in case anyones interested, my parents own/operate a b&b down there and play host to a lot of fisherman. There is the main house and there is a 2 bedroom "lodge" with full baths and a full kitchen, that's where most of the fisherman choose to stay. Check it out if you'd like:

thanks for the info..... i will definitely check that out....

if you even get down to fish at POC ask your dad about the Army Hole... I've caught some huge Redfish there and I heard the trout fishing is great there 2.......
