guys keep telling me to fish a spoon across the lilly pads where i am at. what type of spoon should i fish?

Miller Wobbler, Johnson Silver Minnow, and do not forget the venerable Heddon MossBoss.  Just put a pork or plastic trailer on the hook and experiment until you figure the fish out.

I used to have luck with the Mister Twister Timber Doodle... do they still sell those?  I haven't seen one in years.

 i think mister twister still makes them..i rig them with a soft plastic frog on the back & its deadly around lilly pads

I've had good luck with Northland Jawbreaker spoons.  They are great in lily pads and they have a nice wide wobble.  The skirt is a nice touch as well.
