My First:

Featured Replies

Today was a pretty fun and interesting day fishing... It was the first:

time i got a hook stuck in my hand past the barb... very unpleasant

time i got to use my brand new custom 6'6" mf St. Croix Avid

time i used powerpro

time i landed a northern pike (23in, just a little guy)

time i landed a sauger

pretty good day... except that hook that i had to wrench out of my hand. it got me between the thumb and index finger and i luckily was able to get it out without ripping out a big chunk of my hand

Nice job (well except for the hook part)! Hopefully, that pike didn't cause the hook to end up in your hand! Been there, done that, DON'T want that to happen again or to anyone else!

nah... it wasn't the pike, it was just some dinky smallmouth, i got one treble out when he jerked really hard... it really sucked because he had one treble and the other one was lodged in my hand, and then he continued to jerk around for 15 to 20 seconds so the hook was just bouncing around in my hand

I feel your pain for sure! Only mine was a 20# musky! NOT FUN!!!!!  :o

Nice! ... the musky that is

Had that happen once when I was about 15. It was early morning I had paddled to the top end of a 20 acre lake that my parent owned and was in the process of removing a large mouth from a crankbait when the crazy thing started flopping around and the next thing I know one set of treble hooks is the bass and one set in my hand. After I managed to get the bass loose (hard to do left-handed when you're right-handed) I discovered that the hook was buried right up to where the three come together so that was no way to pull the barb through and cut it off. I paddled back one handed, woke my parents up and asked to go to the hospital to have it removed.

My dad, who I'm certain had been up all night drinking wanted to cut it out with a steak knife but luckily my mom thought better of that idea :-)

that sucks indeed... now i get kinda jittery when i have to pull trebles out   :-[

I had hooked a perch with the farthest treble hook to the back of the crankbait and the other hook was just dangling. I lost control of the fish and dropped it catching my thumb with the loose hook with the fish still hanging from my thumb. Its a d**n shame my anger took ahold and ended up squeezing as hard as i could. Although it did not die, the d**n thing was still pretty shooken up. d**n and the best part about it was i think i got it on camera. My buddy who was runnin the camera panicked and i told him to just rip it out and do it as fast as he could.

I feel your pain!  I had one treble in a lively pike and the other in my hand.  Really not nice at all at the time but I guess I look back at it and laugh now... (kinda...)   :)
