PB Catfish!

Featured Replies

While fishing for smallies the other night, I managed a 12 pound 10 ounce channel cat. I caught him on a strike king spinnerbait at around midnight fishing 8 foot of water. He measured 30 inches. I was totally not expecting him, so he suprised me. I was usin a 7' med/hvy BPS Tourney Special rod with a Quantum Accurist and 12 pound Sufix Elite. He put up a good fight! I had to wake up my buddy to get him to net it. I brought him home to get pics, I had low battery power and wanted to save battery if I got a big bass. I took him to the crick below my house, where he can live the rest of his life, so he was released.

Again, congrats! Glad you released it too. I think you know my opinion on eating catfish too. Hopefully, it will "surprise" you some evening you're fishing the creek!  ;)

Nice fish. Is it weird to catch a Channel Cat on a spinnerbait? I've never heard of that before.

It happens a lot. I've caught them on crank baits also.

I didn't really find it odd because of all the threads on here. But he sure did suprise me!

I've caught them on pretty much everything even a finesse worm!!!

a friend of mine caught a 10 lb catfish on a buzzbait earlier this summer. not sure if it was a channel or not...

i caught a small one on a crankbait a few yrs ago. i guess they get hungry enough to chase down bait fish every once and a while.
