First striper....

Almost. Working in Brooklyn, got a hotel in Sheepshead Bay that is on the water. Got done early, stopped at the bait store for some clams, got right out to the water. Was fishing for about half an hour when my rod got nailed. I thought a had a small bluefish, but when I got him close to the wall I saw it was a small striper - about 18". Then the little sucker threw the hook! The tide went out a short time later along with the fish, end of fishing for today. Got one more day up here, maybe I'll have better luck tomorrow.

Man I'm bummed out

If the tide is running , try to get your hands on a larger size ACME SPOON with the flat sides. Keep your eye out for the birds, slamin bunker, thorw it right in there and you will come up with some nice stripers off the shore that way. Also try where the Gerrritsen Beach Channel( right straight out from the Tamaqua Club) Meets the bay and right across the Belt Parkway there at Plum Beach

Good Luck!

see if you can get some sea worms, run them up a bait style hook, and weight it down with a sinker.  Don't set the rod down hold it and if you feel anything set that hook like your life depends on it.  Try to find a place where the current really rips, that where they like to hang out.

good luck  :)
