Action of a french fry/centipede???

Featured Replies

For those of you that have fished with a french fry or centipede, can you tell us what is different about this bait and what action it gives out when fished. I guess I am curious how it reacts versus a senko? When and how would you use one? Seems to be a bait not used that often.  Or talked about at least.

Where I fish I know a guy who fishes the zoom salty centipede religiously. Green pumpkin texas rigged with a small sinker a foot to a foot and a half above it. He just lifts and drops or drags it and seems to do very well on it.

its a very subtle bait. ive used some cetipedes before skipping docks, using a 2/0 gammy ewg, with a small nail in the tail of it. when usin a spinnin outfit, it actually falls away from you for some reason. falls real fast with enough weight, fish seem to like that round here. have never fished it wacky  though, might go pick up some more now that i think about it. ;D

It depends on how you rig it.

one of my best fishing days ever was using a C-rigged watermelon candy centipede.

I'll second kybasser91 post about insering a nail weight in the tail of a Zoom Centipede (the ones by Lunker City are perfect for this), make sure  to use a 2/0 offset  hook not an EWG for this application (I'm partial to the owner hook). I like to throw it on 7' med action spinning rod with braided line with a 2' blood knot tied florocarbon leader. My favoite colors are Junebug, Green Pumpkin and the underrated but deadly Smoke Purple. This bait also is terrific for skipping under docks etc. This is one of my go to baits when the water's calm and the sky is blue, it always puts fish in the boat. The nice thing about this set -up is I can switch to a thin senko with that same hook for a different look with another deadly bait. The Thin Senko I throw weightless.

And how is that ?

In how many ways you know how to rig a plastic worm ?

I have done well with them using the drop shot.
