spear fishing

Featured Replies

Any of you guys do any underwater spear fishing?  I've been snorkeling around watching fish and wanting to get into spear fishing.  I know in AR walleye spear fishing is legal with season.  There are other states with seasons too.

Anyway who does this?

i used to go spear fishing (with a hawaiian sling though) usually about once a week when i was in highschool.  I would go to the beach wrecks and inlets on the treasure coast here in FL.

I almost ran one over with my boat once....does that count? LOL.

There are dudes I see doing this in Wylie, from the surface the water looks like it is just muddy as can be...I cannot believe they can see far enough to shoot anything.

when I travel to the bahamas to visit family, I always spear fish over the shallow reefs a few times, using a hawaiian sling (spear guns are illegal there) it is a blast, but it can be tricky, shots are harder than they look, and the fish aren't as big as they seem,so you have ot have a good judgement on what to, and not ot shoot. but boy do I love it!!

Please just remember if you go spear fishing make sure you practice catch and release

;D
