Caught a Bowfin on a Micro Lite.

Featured Replies

I went today to this local pond with my buddy not to far from my house and I was using my BPS 5' Micro Lite Elite with 6 lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid line and caught one tiny rock bass and this 2.8 pound Bowfin. I was wondering how my micro lite would handle a decent fish since I just bought the combo and know nothing about it.

I'm glad to say I'm proud of my micro lite. It handle the Bowfin like a champ with no problem at all.

i once had micro lite and i caught 6 lb american eel the rod handled like it was nothing then i broke it myslef i gotta get me another micro lite

Yes it was!! haha. I don't mind them. I always like a good fight. I just to remember to carry my grippers with me cause every time I don't I manage to catch the mean fish.

Zero,

Yea I love my micro lite. 6lb eel, I bet that was nice. So far I yet hooked an eel.

I use a BPS Microlite all the time, love it, catch Crappie and small bass with it all the time in a pond in my back yard. Love the way it handles. No complaints. Great fish!

Yea I know, I'm very proud of mine. Do you have the same one I got? I'm thinking about getting my wife the BPS Viper combo just not sure if is a micro lite but the reel has ten bearings. The combo going for $39.94 for fourth of July.

Endless,

I have the 15 dollar BPS special from a few months back, has two bearings. Actually caught a carp while I was pan fishing last night. a good 2 pounder, man that is one ugly fish. Need to start packing a camera so these are not just FISH STORIES.

Yes they are!

i hate catchin those buggers. i've grown to tell the difference between a bass bite and a grennel. grennels are violent once you set that hook. i've caught huge ones at least 30" before. i will admit it's a fun fight. they never really give up. i always mess with my drag when i hook up on one to experiment with different tensions. i love seeing tournament fisherman hook up with one, they get all excited then, "Aww s*it, it's a mudfish!" ;D

supposedly they taste pretty good, is that what you were doing in that one pic with the water boiling? ;D

Boiling makes em fall right off the bone!! Nah I released it back. I heard opposite about eating them and not sure if want to try. I do love catching them and I bet tourny anglers throw fits when realizing after what they done hooked.
