picture of an 11'1" sturgeon caught on the Missouri river a few weeks ago , estimated weight is over 1,000 pounds !!! , i can't even imagine catching that thing ! they said it took 4 guys , 6 and a half hours to reel him to the boat

I know I've seen that before.

The picture is genuine - a group of Brits caught the monster in the Fraser river.

I've seen the story 3 or 4 times claiming different locations.

I have heard people say that when you fight fish that big, they eventually run themselves to exhaustion and die.

Is this true?

Depends a lot on the fish and how it's hard it's fought.  The angler can do a lot to help the fish by not instantly releasing it.  If the time is spent to revive a fish, there is a much better chance for survival.  Sturgeon are pretty tough fish also.  They've been around and mostly unchanged for...well a long time.  Some people say since the dinosaur age.

Heck of a fish no matter where it was caught.  I bet that was like trying to reel in a bus.
