Flats guide recommendations out of Islamorada

Featured Replies

I will be back in Miami in a couple weeks and am looking to get out for a day of flats sightfishing for Bones and Permit.  It has been awhile since I have been there (college) so I don't have the best up to date info.

Can anybody give me a recommendation for a guide that can handle two anglers and might be okay with a weekend trip on two weeks notice?

I know, I know...call the Saltwater Experience guys, Tom and Rich- but seriously- any advice would be great.

Thanks guys.

Thanks Snook,

have you been out with any of these guys in particular?  I am leery of jumping in without any first-hand account.

I was but I don't remember the guide's name, was a couple of years ago.  I'm thinking of going down there myself end of October for a few days, there or the Bahamas for bonefish.

Nobody with personal experience? If it helps, I would like to sight fish with spinning tackle for bones and permit.

As I said I don't remember the guide's name but he produced.  We sight casted with spinning and caught trout, triple tail, sharks up to 60#, snook and juvie tarpon.  We saw permit and bonefish but could not tempt them.

Mark Sosin or Jose Wejebe.

;D

Not Islamorado, but flamingo bay capt. benny blanco is the best in the business....chances are he won't have an opening but if he does, you'll be extrmely satisfied. His web site is www.fishingflamingo.com

I have fished with a few guys down there, but the two that I'd recommend are fly tackle only.  I know some others but I couldn't, in good conscience, recommend them to you.  PM me if you'd like, I'd rather not say anything in public about my experiences with them.
