1st Brown of the year, a pretty little hen.  Caught 10 more, mixed bag of steel, browns, and obnoxious Cohos.  Yellow worms and big beads ruled.

Pac Bay sliding rings on a Tennessee grip.  The reel is a centrepin.  This vid explains it:

Back when I first stated using spinning gear, maybe 1950, just about all rods I can remember had the sliding handle rings on them, as I recall they worked just fine.

Some guys tape the sliding rings down, but I put a few wraps of tape on the reel foot. That way I can move the reel. Towards the end of the day, I change it so there is more butt end to tuck under my arm, just because my arm gets tired wielding a 13' rod all day.

BTW, got out yesterday as well.  Caught several nice fish, despite the ditches being filled with goons.  Word about big runs and hot bites travels fast these days!
