Best way to fish Flappin' Hogs

Featured Replies

I've been fishing gycb flappin' hogs for a couple of weeks and man do they produce. The smallies just eat them up. I've been texas rigging them with a 1/16 slip weight and a 2/0 gammie with mega strike applied to the head. The 2/0 is the biggest hook I've been able to use. Just wondering if anyone has a different hook set up that works.

I fish them as a trailer on 1/2 oz GMAN jigs,

Micro Munch Tackle jigs and 3/8 oz Shak-E2 jigs.

Try rigging them on a football jighead.  In the summer...I use football heads quite a bit for the flappin' hogs, beavers, and other plastics.  You don't need anything special, just a plain old football jighead.  Drag it...hop it, and anything in between.  The flappin' hog is also a supreme jig trailer; I use them as well as beavers as much as paca chunks these days.
