MAN THIS IS COOL!

Featured Replies

We just found out that a kid from my Jr club had to drop out of Tennessee's state tournament due to a prior commitment putting me into  the state tournament on Chickamauga Lake ;D ;D. The practice day will be Feb 29th and tournament day Mar 1st. I dont know where we will be launching from but will find that out in about two weeks at our next meeting. Any tips from anglers who fish this lake will be appreciated. Is this just another typical TN River lake like Kentucky Lake like Im used to fishing or is this a whole other lake?

good luck man  is this your first tournament?

Congratulations...

It makes no difference if it is a lake like you are used to fishing or not. Get a map and spend lots of time studying it. Pick out areas that will correspond to the types of water you are comfortable fishing. There will be areas  that will allow you to fish to your strengths. Find them. Do not try to learn the entire lake. Pick a section (Upper, mid, Lower) and spend your time in one area instead of running up and down the lake.

I like to photocopy  an area of a lake and then trace off the contour lines with a pen. It is amazing what you will notice doing this. You will find little areas that you will overlook when you just stare at a map. I have traced off areas as many as 15 times finding things each time I retrace it. In fact I make a point to trace one at least five times before moving on to the next location. I will also color code the map with my preferences for my on reference. I begin by tracing the water line and then coloring it in green. If I plan to fish 8-12 ft of water I will usually color it in yellow(Just my preference) as this will allow me a quick glance to pick out sharp drops or flats. Creeks are highlighted in red(Again my preference). Good luck and I hope this helps.

Congratulations and good luck to you!  Good advice from fishfordollars.

Take your jerk baits!!!! Oh, and a blue and silver trap ! Lake will be in draw down, winter pool. Good Luck

Wonderful news.

Wear your Tennessee cap and do well.

Wear an LSU cap and with the tournament.

Just kidding.

Do you think you need to ask abot the lake in the fishing boards, like the Southeast?  You may get more responses.

Now go out and do us proud.
