Hey Guys/Gals....New to the board and I have a question on getting started in Bass Fishing Tournaments...My son is very interested and I would like to know what needs to be done to get started...

Join a club to get the experience. Work your way up from there. The club circuits are the greast teaching tools for those interested in moving up the latter.

Actually, I'm in the middle of typing up an article for a website that I field staff for about this very subject. I'm currently talking to Jonathan Vandam on getting his insight on how he is paving his way into a full time career.

Start at the bottom(club tournaments) and work your way up.

A lot of areas now have junior bass clubs, where the father and son fish together.  For example, the junior club in my area allows the father to weigh in one fish and the son to weigh in five.  The goal is for the kids to have the best possible experience.

A bass club is definitely the way to start out and get their feet wet.

Clubs are a great way to start.  I would highly recommend letting him backseat with as many different people as possible.  he will learn a lot.
