Need some tourney help

Featured Replies

I am looking to get started in fishing tournaments. What is the best way to find tournaments? Is there a website or anything? I am looking at lakes such as Delavan, Geneva, and Fox Lake Chain. Pretty much anything in southern WI and northern IL. My problem is that I don't have a boat and I'm only 17. Are there restrictions against this? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

join a bass club and enter first as a co- angler, you should be able to find a club through local tackle shops, newspapers,or online.

There are 2 clubs out of Madison, there is another in Janesville and another I believe in Delavan. UW Madison, Whitewater and northern IL schools also have teams. Most of the clubs have some sort of a yearly membership fee and unless your 18 you will need your parents to sign some sort of waver so the boater is not held liable if you are injured.

Last year I fished club tournaments on the fox chain and on Delavan. I'm not sure about open tournaments there. You can also try checking around on www.lake-link.com lots of good local info on there about tournaments etc. Just type in the body of water your interested in and post a comment in the thread for that body asking when an open tournament is and what you would need to do to fish as a co-angler.

I started fishing BFL Events as a Co-Angler when i was 17. I skipped the whole club level. I would recommend starting in a club though. You will learn alot either way.

I fish US Anglers Choice on the Fox Chain first tourney is this Sunday. There is about 6 or 7 different organizations fishing tourneys on the Chain. You can also look up BigBucksBass out of Action Marine. They do a tourney trail on the chain and a # of them in southern Wisconsin.

These are 2 man tourneys and most boaters have regular partners but ocassionaly they need fill-ins. There is no age limit. Good luck
