Planting brush piles before a tournament...

Featured Replies

Just throwing some brush out in the water doesn't mean that fish are going to swarm to it like a magnet - there has to be some other structure there to attract the fish in the first place - "all brush piles are not created equal" - and like five-bass-limit says, it takes a while for the bass to migrate to the brush pile once it is there.

Around here the problem is not having the brush piles planted (everybody does that) - it's guys carrying grappling hooks and moving 'em. It was there yesterday - today it's gone???

LMAO, i thought we had the market cornered on that one. I've drug more than a few off or apart.

Its been done for ages and it hurts nothing.  A recent rerun of a Jimmy Houston episode with Rolan Martin on it talked about Rolan fishing a sunk tree Jimmy had planted before a tourney.  Its really not a big deal.

Guess what guys!!! This ia a new summer pattern in most southern lakes with no moss or grass.Motor around the points, find the brush piles, see the fish around the brush, throw out a bouy marker, hit save waypoint on your gps/sounder.Mark as many as you can in seeing distance and so back and fish them.Don't be afraid to throw a big worm and 1/2 oz sinker to get down there. Any angler can now have an advantage just like the local pro.Now thats PARITY!!! Just be sure and go back and pick your bouys when you leave the area.

If FLW doesn't care why should you? I put out 40-50 Christmas trees around my home lake every year and sometimes fish them during tourneys. When fish are holding close to cover you have to fish cover.
