Rage Shad

Featured Replies

Just got in some anacondas, space monkeys, and shads. Have seen a few comments on the SM's and the annas but not on the shad. Has anybody tried them yet?

I've tried em once night fishing at a small lake...... had a bunch of bass strike hard at em but miss them completely I guess because there was no light!!!!!!!!  they are good lures and make a lot of noise!!!!!!!!

I have caught numerous bass on the shad.  I use them just like I use the toads, over the grass and around the lilly pads.  I use a 5/0 EWG Gamakatsu hook and I have good hook up ratios.

i used the shad a bunch last year in fl . Just like the toads you need to wait till you feel the fish for the hook set. I use it in place of a buzz bait.

Im glad you posted this because I would have thought a 5/0 hook was too big since the shads are only 2.5" long.

Does everyone prefer to fish the space monkeys as topwater lures? or how do you fish them?

89MJ, I fish the space monkey just a little bit below the surface.  I put a small weight in front of it to get it to sink just a bit and I reel it in.  The bass can't help but strike these when they see the action of the bait.

The shad is killer where the cover is a bit too much for a buzzbait, but the time is right for a buzzbait.

It also works outside of emergent vegetation.  It's a good bait.  A bit expensive, but that hasn't stopped me from buying them.
