  1. What I ment about the pros is you really think a guy fishing for his lively hood is going to risk any failure I don't and I was kind off kidding about the UFO scenario. I have been a professional snowboarder and had many friends on companies that made sup par bindings they wouldt even risk it once in a contest. They purchased bindings they would trust and they could get anything they wanted free. I dint mean to offended. Just think quantum gets hit super hard around the web.
  2. What I find hard is I have 8 new quantum 2 being the smoke 150s and have no issues with them at all. I have one E7 and it stripped out on a 3 pound fish. Just looking at the anti quantum post and it reminds me of over done UFO hoaxs. I understand people get lemons some times but it seems a lot of people for fish for their living fish quantum. If the money the win fishing feeds the family I don't think they would risk fishing junk . Even tackletour gave the smoke a good review. I have a lot of faith in my reels and could not be happier with the smoke
  3. Try out the Powell rods. I am extremely happy with my Powell over st criox rods. You can not get better customer service then with Powell rods. Give them a call and they can guide you right to the best rod for what you want to do.
  4. I fish the Skinny dipper on a owner wide gap plus in 5/0. I will add a tiny screw in weight to the front of the bait. This works great fishing over and around dense grass.
  5. Sorry folks auto correct on my phone changed hackney to hockey. But yeah that may be the next rod added to my arsenal
  6. I have used the klien 8 foot flipping stick and enjoyed it. Had plenty of power to pull fish out of cover. I really would like to try the hockey rod. I think his idea of action fits modern line and hooks
  7. love the video guys , Avail is one of my favorite bands. I miss fishing the northeast.
  8. I have the 7 10 mh I use it for traps and deep divers. But I would look at the 7 foot medium heavy . For traps you need some power to rip them free from the grass.
  9. To cover all those I look at the 7 foot rods. For me I throw traps on the 7 10 launcher I like to make really long cast and the extra length helps rip the trap from the grass. For jerk baits i like a much shorter rod in the 6 foot 6 range. You really cant go wrong with the KVD series of rods. I would love to have a few more of them in the quiver of rods
  10. JM I have a Reax and all my reels are quantums energys. The Reax is nice and on sale a great reel to get. I find it to be a smooth caster and great reel for moving baits. Its not as smooth as the energys but on sale a great reel.
  11. I have been using the ko hooks for a few months and they are awesome hooks . I use them for flipping junk in south florida and could not be happier . Strong sharp and a good price . Defin a big fan of these. Gamble makes a good product give them a shot
  12. I have and cant say enough about the gambler jigs. I use the football jigs and the southern swim jig. Great jigs for the price.
  13. I am using the Powell swim jig rod with braid and find that if you just sweepset like a crank bait I get a more solid hookset . With a swim jig I find they are getting hooked in the roof of the mouth so a hard hook set could tear right out. Give the Gambler Southern swim jig a shot. I have caught a few big fish on this jig and it's given me no issues. The weed guard is thin but still keeps the bait clear.
  14. I own two the special edition rods but not the square bill. If ythe square bill is half as good as the spook rod it's worth it. The spook and trad rod is just solid and strong it casts big spooks easily and without the tip wobble in some rods I have seen. I hooked and landed 8 fish over 6 in one outing on this rod in south florida grass and this rod performed flawlessly plentt of power to move the fish but the forgiveness to keep the trebles in.. I will be getting the square bill rod soon.
  15. I just got my second powell rod the first is the glass spook and trap rod. I just got the swim jig rod and reviews will follow but so far these are the best application rods I have owned thr spook rod handels large fish in grass with ease . I don't think you will be disappointed in any powell rod
  16. Go with the Gambler Giggy head post head instead of the screw lock. They also have the screw lock available.
  17. I saw a few guys with these at the Southern open this week and got to meet the owner. Very impressed with these boats. If I had the money it would be tops on my list.
  18. I have an Team Daiwa S top water rod that my Mom bought me for my birthday more then 10 years ago. Its still in my arsenal and I have a two zara spook zell roland autograph editions that my dad bought for me on trip one time. I take one out for few cast every now and then and I always catch fish on them. I really wish I could find a few these . I loved to just hold onto and put the ones my dad got in a nice display.
  19. Try going up to fish The big O and fish out of Clewiston and Roland Martins. Mark King is a great guide. He will be able to put you on fish with either shiners or artificials.
  20. The Gander here did not have the stx on sale but I picked up a energy burner for 97 dollars
  21. oakley Monster Dogs Shallow Blue polarized
  22. being a PGA professional I would think using winn grips as the grip on a fishing rod may have a negative effect on feel.
  23. So I finally got my package from ***.com today after several delays from the lovely brown truck. After checking the inventory and loading it all up in my tackle bag, I headed down to the ponds. Being very breezy today in West Palm I decied to try out the new Baby King Shad from Strike King. This little lure was awesome, I found just slow rolling it with little pauses thrown in got this little thing hammerred. In a total of an hour fishing the Baby King shad I had 8 fish the best 5 alittle over 13 pounds. The biggest one was a solid 4. So after fishing and battling the wind I moved to a cove that was protected from the wind and started to try out the new Baby Rage craw. Most strikes came before the craw ever hit the bottom. Just hit the water and started shaking as it fell on a tour grade shakey head. I was impressed with the durablity of the new baby craw was able to get at least a few fish from each craw. I would definetly recommed both of these lure to you pond fisherman out there.
  24. I finally got hold of a a news paper article that was published about a freind and myself fishing lake Champlian in a Florida news paper and to be used in the accomplished outdoor writer's upcoming bass fishing book. The article includes a large photo of me clearly showing the gear I was using. My main question is should I send copies of this to the manufactures or just let it go get it framed and be happy it happened. Thanks Guys WestPalmfrogpunk
  25. Does anyone have any experience with these rods? I am looking at the new Rojos and the new Hackney rods. Any help would be appriecated.
