  1. i have the quantum energy and the new curado e7 and definetly prefer the quantum. If I could get a tour edition I would definetly go for it. The energy is the smoothest reel that I have ever used.
  2. For a Toad I like the Strike King Rage toad and shad. For the Hollow body I like the Spro frog with some minor modifications.
  3. I own the the power model that I have on a KVD 7 10 and its amazing. Its way smother and more comfortable in my hands then any of my others. I find its cast long and feels effortless on the retrieve. Its by far my favorite to use at of all my reels. I defenitly would recomend this reel.
  4. The Rage Tail shad and the Skinny dipper both have their place in the boat. They are two very different baits I think. If I want more noise and trying to wake up the fish or they are very active the shad is the way to go. If is flat and the fish are a not willing to hit a top water I will use the dipper just under the surface. but i dont think you can not have each in the boat
  5. As stated above the Bass pro rods are very good rods in that price point. I own a Johny morris elite series and it a great little rod. Sensitive and it has the recoil guides. Check around some times there are great deals to be had at BPS I got a St croix ltb teaser last year for 150 it a 200 dollar rod normally. another rod to look at in that price range is the Diawa light and tuff series. Ike uses them a lot and I have the Frog rod and its a great rod for toads and skinny dippers
  6. i had the ghost in 1.5 save my skin a few times. It definetly a good bait in clear water. If the water is stained I go for a chartrues RCs.
  7. Ok The spinning rod from KVD will be available go to the quantum website under custom shop. All the quantum guys will have their rods released. *** should have them shortly
  8. Angler1 the beaver style baits is a glide bait. It does not have a lot of action to the bait itself. There are a few ways to get a little bit more action like spliting the tails or with the Ugly otter you can trim the paddles in different manners . There are also few secret rigs I have seen to make the ugly otter into a really good sunfish imitator. but for general fishing the beaver does not have a lot of action
  9. Big Rick here is the KVD spinning rod I think you were looking for http://www.quantumfishing.com/products/1908/Tour-Kevin-VanDam.aspx
  10. Fishing is a little different then the PGA ( I am a PGA Professional). Most of the stuff on the PGA tour is custom fitted to the player. Tigers irons are not going to fit most peoples swing speeds and it mostly the shafts that make them not fit the average player . In fishing we could use the same rods and reels as the pros. Advertising is what they are doing. But if its a cranking day KVD has his rods in his hands from what I can see.
  11. Lucky Craft you are right it the only application that Flouro does not work for. I should learn to proof read better.
  12. I use the Strike king Series 4s and the Lucky Craft RC 1.5 and 2.5. Both have there place for me. For the money I feel the Strike Kings are hard to be beat. I just wish there was a silent version.
  13. I like both of the frogs. I just got into the river2sea frogs. But there are some tricks to make the spro frog more fishable. Leave the spros on the dashboard for a few days in the heat that will soften the plastic and then bend the hooks out and up just a bit. This will really increase your hookups.
  14. I will agree that flouro does strecth. But flourocarban is alot more sensative then mono. Plus the low vis of flouro wins over mono for me anytime. the only use i have for flouro is top water baits. My prefered fluoro line is BPS XPS Flouro and Berkly 100% flouro
  15. Lets just say get all the dippers you can. I love them one of the best baits for me fishing eel grass in south fl. Lov em I find I can fish the skinny dipper in the same places I would fish a toad and give them a different look. It is a very popular bait on Lake O in the past year or so. You will definetly find it tied on to a rod in most boats in the club I belong to .
  16. should be awesome in december last year was a good year out there.
  17. $139-150 is what I have found on line for the deepsouth line and the redneck series are cheaper. I think I am going to get a split grip flipping stick from them when I get back to florida.
  18. Here is what I found from there web site Welcome to Deep South Fishing Rods "QUALITY CRAFTSMANSHIP AT AN AFFORDABLE PRICE Whether you are a serious tournament angler or just out fishing for fun with the family, there is a Deep South Rod that will suit your needs. Our rods feature graphite composite blanks, custom reel seats, and Alconite guides properly matched to create one of the finest lines of rods available at an affordable price. Deep South Rods have the sensitivity needed to detect the subtle bite of wary fish and the power to turn the most aggressive bait slammers!"
  19. From shore I use the Red Eye shad and the 1XS and 4S from Strike King. Your gonna hang cranks, So I stay with the cheaper cranks when I fish from shore. But I will throw the Lucky Craft RC wake bait and the Wake Shad from Strike King.
  20. No Worries,SD. I cant find much informatation or reviews on these rods. But the price seems good and the small amount of info they may be worth a try.
  21. i would like to, i am just starting to look into the ardents. But I dont want this to turn into an issue. I just want to find out about the deepsouth rods.
  22. Ok I am looking into the deep south line for a new flipping stick and possibly the mark king shakey head rod. Any one have any experince with these rods. I would really like to find something that is a quality american made line of rods that wont break the bank
  23. I own a one of the power 09 energies and it is an awesome reel. Its defenitly my favorite. Super smooth retrieve cast effortlessly. Palms very easy for me and I have super small hands. I also own the new E7 Curudo and its definetly as good. I am hard pressed to decieded which reel I like best. Both have there qualities that I like. The General feel of the Quantum is smoother to me and just feels solid to me. Casting distance is about the same to me. I dont have as much time with the Curudo but I like the both and could be happy with either.
  24. I own the a KVD 7 10 and use it for all depth cracks that it can handle and its a solid rod. I have no regretts about it. Slow enough to keep a fish buttoned up but enough power to handle a big fish keep him moving towards the boat. It allows really good casting distance and has great feel of the bait. I plan on adding a 7 foot model for medium cranks. Its defiently a rod I would like to have the entire arsenal of for cranks of all types.
