Chickahominy Lake

Featured Replies

Launched from Eagles Landing down at Chick. Lake on saturday. It was a little chilly in the morning, around 40 degrees, but it warmed up and turned out to be a great day for fishin. After launching we went straight down to Walker's Dam and fished the seawalls with shakey Head rigs and Bandit 200 series crankbaits. After fishin there fer a while we headed back to a cove across from Johnson creek and fished a row of Cypress trees. On about my third pitch with the good ole Persuader 3/8oz. black/blue jig I felt a tap and set the hook, the fish took off and made a few runs before burying in the grass, I pulled in a nice 4 1/2lber. We fished for the next 5 hours without a single bite, we tried everything from throwing jerkbaits on weedlines, rooting crankbaits around the trees, and even a splitshot rig. Finally right before we left i got a nice little keeper on a white spinnerbait from a logjam. We weighed the fish at the landing and it came in at 4.53lbs. It was the biggest fish caught from the lake the whole day and it will be featured in the fishing report in the paper and woods and waters magazine :)

I have a pic of the fish but it aint digital :(. But the fish was 4.53lbs. and 20.5 inches long so it was a little on the skinny side but still a nice fish especially for Chick lake.
