JT Bagwell Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Excellent!!! The weather here (in IL) has sure been nice for the last week or so. To bad I think it is all ending as I type. What town are you in? JT Bagwell Quote
dink Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 That is pretty cool, Illini. JT, the weather today around here (St. Louis area) is predicted to be windy and colder, but the rest of the week is going to warm up again into the upper 40s and lower to middle 50s. During the year, I keep my boat (14' semi-V) on a small lake during the season and usually get it out around the first of December. It is still on the water and I am using it tomorrow. Quote
fish-fighting-illini Posted January 1, 2007 Author Posted January 1, 2007 From Andalusia I see JT. I am in Washington IL near Peoria. but I grew up in the QC's in MIlan. I used to work at the Cinemas and umpired a lot in Milan. We got to know a lot of kids from Rockridge. We were up in Moline visiting my parents yesterday and just went to a small pond for dad to try out the reel. Neither of us had ever caught or even seen a rainbow trout before so it was cool. I'm determined to get back someday and fish Lake George. Now that I know how to fish a little better and have a small boat it might be a little easier. Is that lake still tuff? We could never get squat out of that lake. Quote

I got a bass out there a couple of years ago that was 2 ounces short of 9 pounds (which is huge this far north). Jigs and soft plastics seem to be the biggest producers out there (although I caught that big one on a spinnerbait). Where did you get that Rainbow Trout at? JT Bagwell Quote
fish-fighting-illini Posted January 2, 2007 Author Posted January 2, 2007 It was at a very small lake in the QC's. I'd rather keep it at that for now as the lake is extremely small. Everybody and their brother would be up their fishing for a trout and I'd like to keep it quiet so pops can go their quietly in the spring and maybe catch a bass or 2. Sorry about being greedy just wanting pops to get out and have some fun. I will tell you though that he caught it on the Storm swimbait that I bought him with the new rod. You ought to try those in 3 or 4" out at lake George. I don't think a lot of people use them and they are only around 50c ea. Quote
JT Bagwell Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 No biggie on keeping your spot quiet. I just hadn't heard of any trout ponds in the area. I have some of those storm swimbaits. They look cool, but so far I have never had a bite on them. JT Bagwell Quote
