Didn't feel like hooking up the boat today so instead me and my dad headed down to our favorite pond for a few hours this morning. My dad scored a nice 2lber on his second cast and then after about 20 minutes I landed a beautiful 3.5-4lber. Then, my very next cast to the same spot a GIANT hit my crankbait, he peeled drag for about 5 minutes before the hooks just popped out >:(. After recovering from my loss I went on to catch 7 more keeper size fish and another nice 3lber, while my dad caught 4 more keepers and a nice crappie.

I caught all of my fish on a Rapala DT-4 and my dad caught his on a chart. roadrunner and a pumpkin/pepper tube.

here's the big dude

Yes it was a beautiful Sunday, and to respond to a question you posted earlier I haven't fished Kerr at all this year. I want to go there at least once before spring break because the water temps are gettin in the 50's and I want some more of that prespawn action ;) When are you going?

Yeah, caught my first good sized fish this weekend.  Just what I needed to get me in the mood for spawn season.  2.5 lber on a slow spinner.  Felt good to finally reel something in!    ;D

I am prefishing Kerr on March 22nd and then the tournament is on March 25th.

I have two friends who know the waters very well and I called one this weekend and will call the other guy this week to obtain their input.

I'll share my info with you after the tournament.

In the meantime, I am thinking of rigging up and hitting the local pond this week to try my luck.  However, my work schedule and work-out schedule at the gym are obstacles.

Please keep fishing for all of us who can't at this time!
