I sure hope so, I always make a goal at the beginning of each year for fishing and last year it was get above a 5 lb fish, I came close a few times with fish I knew would be bigger than 5, but stuff always happened, broken line, thrown hook, stuff like that. This year my goal is to get 6+ lb fish. Of course my 1st goal is really learn as much as possible, but that is a given.  :)

That looks a bit bigger than 5.2 lbs, maybe 6?  Very nice job!

Trout,

I thought this fish was 6+, the picture doesn't even do it justice of how big it was.  :( It was only 5.2 though, weighed on a digi scale.

Test that scale.  I didn't want to say anything at first.  I was afraid it would belittle your accomplishment, but you could have said that was up to 7 lbs and I would have no problem believing it.  Get some weight and put them in a plastic grocery sack and check to make sure that scale is accurate.

Very nice fish! It does look bigger but then looks can be deceiving.

Hey its okay, I'll test the scale and if it comes out wrong, I'll just do some calculations and see how much it actually might have been. I truthfully did think it was 6, so did everyone in my family. I'll test it out today, thanks guys.

niiice fish brother, im still waiting on my FL 10lber also. Its sad my Jersey PB far outweighs my FL pb

Congrats. I also love you said it's 5.2 and not 7.5 lol

It does look a little bigger than 5.2 though.

The smile says it all.........you're hooked for life now.

Me too, it looks a few pounds bigger than a 5 pounder, I caught some long 5 pound fish but I dont think they looked that big. I want to commend you also  for as honest a weight as you could. I have seen some of the worlds smallest 5 and 6 pound fish caught by a fishing partner or two, or three, or four....... I'm not saying they were lieing, but I did question if thier arm scale needed calibrating.
