I just don't get it.

I went  fishing today after work, like I do most days. I always go to the lake that is on my way home. A buddy of mine went to his pond today while I was at the lake. He caught 11 bass at his pond, and I caught 2 bass. Why does this always happen? I know a pond is smaller and you can cover more area quicker, but he uses no skill when it comes to fishing. He will only use a #3 Mepps regardless of conditions and will just start casting aways. Me on the other hand like to use plastic worms, and will use certain ones according to how clear the water is and how the weather is, and fish cover and drop offs. So why is he pulling so many in and i'm not? Oh yeah, we both fish from the bank.

You may have answered your own question-a smaller body of water.  The fish are more concentrated so they are easier to find.  More than once I have fished all day on a lake and caught a couple, then later in the day I fish a small stock tank you can throw a crankbait across and caught 10-20.  This time of year water temperature might also be a factor-the pond will warm up faster than the lake so the fish in the pond might be more active.

Hes also fishing alot faster.

Don't handicap yourself.  If there hitting fast moving baits put on a litte 1.4 oz ratltrap.  You'll nail em.
