The fish are fat and hungry!

Yet another jig fish.  1 lb. 1 oz.  Put up quite the fight.

Nice smallie man, gotta love them for their fight.  I didn't do any serious bassing this weekend, too busy catching tons of shad in the Rap (see my post in Other Fish Species).  But once the run is over back to trying to stick some nice bass.

I caught that same fish this evening about 100 yards up river from where I got it Sunday.  Recognized it by the white spots on the gill plate.  It has them on both sides.

It had put on 1 oz. since Sunday.  Got it on a weightless Case Mini Magic Stik.

Also got a nice 1 lb. 3 oz female on a Baby Paca Craw.

Both of them came out of the same hole in pretty much the same spot.  Stacked up in a narrow channel with swift current.

Very nice.  I've never caught a smallie before.

Drive east old man.  I'll put you on 1 pounders all day.  Just for the low price of one Steez.   ;)

Until last year, they were pretty much the only bass I knew.  LM were lake fish and the only time I fished lakes was for trout, bluegill, or catfish.

I enjoy the stability of lake fishing, the lack of current, etc.

But to tell you the truth, I am at my happiest when out on the river catching the bronze beasts.
