haha funny you ask. i have a story about my first high end lure.

i bought a lucky craft live pointer on a whim at bass pro.

i was going fishing with it the next day, and i wanted to get a feel for casting it so i casted it in my back yard, first cast it hit the deck and the lip snapped clean off. i was sooooooooo mad. i sent it back to lucky craft and they gave me a new one. i sold the new one for 18 bucks without even opening the package lol. i wanted nothing to do with it.

Sammy's are great.

Just remember.....

Use mono as they are a treble hook bait.

SWEEP rod to left or right when setting the hook (as done with all treble hook baits).

Keep rod tip low to stop fish from jumping and throwing the Sammy.

Keep line TIGHT at all times after you set the hook.

Let the fish hit the lure and wait one second, maybe even two seconds, and set the hook with the hard sweeping motion to right or left.

Use pliers when removing hooks.

Next one you need to consider is the RICO. Beautiful topwater.

And when you get down to the Williamsburg area, check out both Pro Tech and Hookes in Tonano. Hookers is the ugly yellow building on Route 60 and Pro Tech is the small, white strucutre on Depot Street.

Now talk about some beautiful and $$$$ lures.

The Bait Monkey will be your friend for life.  ;D

P.S.  Don't ask how I know that the bass can throw a Sammy.  I just know.  ;D   ;D   ;D

Sorry, I can't spell tonight.

Hookers on Route 60 in Toano.

Just west of Williamsburg off I-95.

Hit them when you get your drivers license and your parents will let you drive on the highways.  :)

HOOKERS

  • Author

The bass were striking it today. I had about six blow ups and landed three. I let the bass take the lure until I felt pressure. I think I just need to continue walking the dog when a bass strikes. Thats what Brent Ehler and *** say to do. It's just hard to get over stopping the bait right when you get a strike until you feel pressure.

What types of lures do they have at hookers?  Is it a small specialty shop like susquehanna fishing tackle?

I still have it ptomacbass and it's an old swimbait, 15 yrs later and only fished it a few times with no great results. I probably should have given it more of a chance but lacked confidence in it.

I'm sure that you will do fine with yours though.

Hookers is a one of our local tackle/baits shops that carries high end tackle - rods, reels, lures...  They carry a full line of Megabass, Lucky Craft (Japanaese and American), OSP, Deps, Ima, Jackall, RICO, etc.  They've been around for awhile, but they've just started a website.  here it is.  It's very much under construction so if you want to order something it's best to call them for now.
