Slow Day

I got up real early yesterday (4am) and was at lake by 4:40am. I hit a spot where I caught 3 nice fish and lost 2 last week in about 45 min.! I figured this spot should be great this early in the morning.

No dice, after about 2 hours of casting not a single bite. This was going to be a bad day I thought to myself.

Went to next spot where I almost allways manage to catch a fish. I brought a couple of 7" Senkos with me to try out because I haven't fished soft plastics for quite while. I cast out and figured I'll take a pee while the Senko sinks. The bait didn't even get to the bottom as the line starts to move and I strike.

So here I am with my thing in my hand and the rod with a fish on in the other! Luckily nobody saw me!

What a sight that must have been. I managed to land the fish (3.7lb) but peed all over myself! ;D ;D Yuk! I lost the the Senko while fighting the fish and so I put the last sausage on that I had left. 4 casts and another fish but this one was bigger (4.6lb). Same story, Senko gone again! Now I'm out of Senkos and angry at myself for not bringing a whole bag! That's why I love but also hate Senkos! They catch fish but get lost or damaged to quick! You can't have it all!

At around 9am I caught my last and biggest fish ( 5.5lb.) of the day on a topwater swimbait. I fished until 6pm without a bite exept 1 fish that I lost on a lipless crank. Would I have caught more fish if I brought the Senkos? I guess I'll never know! Still alot fun no matter what!

4.6lb.

Well T-Rig the day as a whole was slow but the morning part of your trip seemed to be great. Three good size bass. I liked the bit where you were takeing a pee and trying to bring a fish in at the same time. That image cracks me up. Great fish and great pics.

Beautiful BASS T-rig!!!

What floating swimbait is that?

Dan

Fish Arrow Flat Jack. It's a swimbait and big pencil bait in one. Fun bait to fish with!

Nice fish  8-) and funny story  ;D Daniel!

For us over here in Cyprus fishing is almost impossible these days due to the heatwave that affects the whole eastern half of the Mediterranean. Last Saturday morning we went fishing with Vyron and Island bassin, even at 4am on the highway the temperature was 32 C (92F). Needless to say fishing became impossible after 7am or so (at least we had some success before that time).

For the last three days midday highs are around 110F anywhere more than a few hundred meters from the sea :P. Water temperatures are now in the low 90s, and the bass (and even the carp and tilapia) are becoming almost comatose...

Same story, Senko gone again! Now I'm out of Senkos and angry at myself for not bringing a whole bag! That's why I love but also hate Senkos! They catch fish but get lost or damaged to quick! You can't have it all!

That's why I have that box full of them always in my backpack... I used to carry less, but then I would run out of them and even when they bite them like crazy there is no guarantee they will be taking other lures....
