My "Murphy's law" day

Featured Replies

Some days your the bug and some days your the windshield........Sunday I was the bug.........

Story begins last Sunday, I pre-fished a local electric only lake where I had a tournament this past Sunday. All went according to plan and the big fish were on. In 4 short hours I boated 2 fish over 5 lbs and several others. This same lake I had a 20 lb limit last year in a club tournament. This years tournament day rolls around and the fish absolutely do not bite, everyone struggled to catch a 15 inch keeper. In the course of the day I managed to shatter the shaft on my bow mount Minn Kota when I collided with a stump under full power (40 lb in the front and rider running a 36 lb in the rear). The motor still worked but the shaft flexed when I stepped on the pedal, then the wind came up to about 15-20 mph. With 2 people in the boat I couldn't go anywhere so I had my rider switch to another guys boat and I tried to fish to no avail, I just couldn't do anything so I went in early and called it a day.

Get home to find that my new XPS 3 bank onboard charger had been delivered Saturday, so I decided to install it in my ProCraft (different boat than I just broke). All goes well mounting it. I hook up the first bank and working on second when it's positive cable end touches negative post on another battery, POP goes the in-line fuse. The in-line fuse holder was fried and the fuse ends were lodged inside the holder. Tried to gingerly get them out, NOPE, they are in there good and now that in-line fuse and holder is junk.

I did call a local boat shop today, least I can cut the bad one out and put a new one in.

I still want to punch myself in the head repeatedly.

There's always tomorrow, wonder what else I can break.....

Well, maybe the bad luck is behind you...I hope so. Let's hear it for another 20 lb bag!

Leo,

Don't worry, in 6 months from now you will be able to tell the story to friends and laugh about it( with just a little pain in the side) ;)

Last year I banged my  3 month old tm up pretty bad while trying to run it into the lift with my big motor while I had forgot the tm was down.  Da ohp!  It was only $3honeybees to fix.  But see, now I can laugh about it. >:( ;D >:( ;D :D

Just be thankful no one got hurt.
