Down here in Florida pickerel are commonly referred to as jackfish or jacks.  They love to hang out in the lily pads and absolutely explode on a Zoom Horny Toad.  

I love catching pickerel. Nice fish. ;D

Nice fish, I haven't caught one of those since I was a kid, about 30 years ago.

Yup as soon as that temp starts dropping in the fall the PICk love it and they go nuts!

If anyone is actually going for them I advise dog walking baits such as the sammy or zara spook...its almost easier than blinking.
