thanks guys!  these things fight like monsters!  i definately recommend at least one trip down to southern florida if you've never experienced it...

i know i am lucky to have these fish around, but on the other hand I've never caught a smallmouth or a striper!  I'll be moving to northern florida in about three months, so I will definately miss these guys...

but they have stripers and crappie!   does anyone know if there are smallmouth in the panhandle area, or is it too warm?

I live < 1 hour from Pensacola and unfortunately there are no smallmouth around  :'( . I grew up in Cutler Ridge by Homestead and we would catch peacock bass in the canals. They are a blast and will almost yank the rod out of your hand. My uncle lives in Panama and he catches over 100 in a matter of hours with his clients. I need to get down there to bend a rod. Where are you going to move to on the panhandle?
