  1. i didn't see anybody mention charlie's worms... hands down my favorite ribbon tail. 8" tequila w/green flake nothing particular for everything else... netbait, zoom, bass pro, etc.
  2. peanut butter toast and water... lotsa water...
  3. Catt... excellent answer. I'll give it heck next saturday. If no bass, at least I can go to the other end and fill the freezer with seatrout. ;D
  4. I have a lake a few miles from my house that is river fed and drains directly into the gulf. I've caught 2-3 pound bass in there but do brackish bass typically get any bigger? Just curious. This lake sees ALOT less bass fisherman than our big freshwater lake. The lake averages 8-9 ft but has some pockets 15-20 ft deep. I want to join the 10lb club and currently drive 45 -50 minutes to get to the other lake. Is it possible / likely one could be lurking in the salty brown water just down the street??? : ;D
  5. wondering if anyone uses ziploc baggies instead of the manufacturer packaging on plastics? for instance, i have 3 or 4 bags of the same worm but they take up too much room seperately. are the manufactures packaging "better" than regular plastic bags?? :-/
  6. clear as mud...
  7. Yeah I noticed the spiderwire stealth had "new and improved" on it also. Wal mart clearanced all the "non-new and imroved" braid for $5!! I took a few boxes of the old stuff.... I guess I'm missing out...
  8. Really? did you go through the eye twice? I go through the eye twice, twist 4 or 5 times, go through the bottom and back through the top... I mainly use Spiderwire stealth 20, 30, and 65... never had an issue. I've straightened hooks and even broke a rod....
  9. Just moved from Ft Lauderdale to northern florida... hands down, the biggest thing I miss is peacock bass. ;D Nice fish!!!
  10. I use this knot for everything... I fish alot of braid

Weeds, lilys, and stumps... define my lake! Just started flipping last week and got pretty good at it after a few hours. Just me in the boat, good time to practice new techniques... Question, I was throwing a t-rig wooly bug with 3/8 oz. bullet. Are t-rigs and jigs interchangable?? Or should I use one over the other in certain situations? EDIT: I found this... answers my question http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1246768029
  12. thanks! I did get some brush hogs last week but stopped throwing them thinking they might be too big. also, I think I concentrated on the horny toad too much in the lily's. they're pretty thick on top but I should easily be able to punch through them with a t-rig or jig. saturday was my first day really flipping. I stayed at it all day and got pretty good after a couple of hours. it's the only thing that produced. t-rigged wooly bug, 3/8 oz, heavy action rod, 65lb braid. although I might go to 50lb braid for castability. 65 is like friggin rope! i about pulled an old dock down. ;D also, the first place i fished was the shallow, big weed bed in the middle of the lake with a buzz bait across the top. I thought for sure I would've nailed a couple. they were feeding all around me. maybe I need to downsize the buzzbait or use a topwater that I can pause and stop. :-?
  13. Random question, I have some chicken breasts that I forgot about in the fridge. Only expired 4 or 5 days ago. I'm not gonna eat them but I could throw it on the grill and give it to the dog.... She'd be ok ya think?? :-?
  14. Hey all, just moved to northern florida and got my boat running. I have been out every Saturday for the past 5 weeks and having a heck of a time getting a pattern. It looks like it should be a bass fortress!! 5000 acres with lily pads, weeds, and cypress stumps EVERYWHERE! I have thrown alot at these bass and just feel like I should be doing better. Two weeks ago I worked all day for two fish! When I get to the boat ramp I was talking to a guy who said he caught 15-16 in the past two hours. I did ask if he minded sharing what they were hitting on. He said swimming worms through the weed beds and they are definatley done spawning (off the beds). Went back out yesterday with my new found knowledge and threw speed worms, horny toads, money minnows, buzz baits in the morning, and flipped the h*ll out of a wooly bug. One fish!! Granted I should have had a couple more but I kept pulling the toad out of they're mouth with my braided line. I definatley got more bites yesterday than any other time though. Am I on the right track, stick with the plastics? Sorry so long, just don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I moved from south florida where I fished primarily smaller canals. The fish were easy to find, they were on the shore.... period. Lake fishing is a little different. Any advice, criticism, or anything you wanna share is appreciated!!!!! The lake is primarily 8-10 ft with channels up to 20-25ft. The water temp has been mid to high 70's. Pics:
  15. What is the whole plastic assembly that controls the timing based on the throttle position??? The tiny bar the arrow is pointing to is cracked on mine... Any help is appreciated!
  16. thanks boss. so you put the diaphragm right on the end plate. so the extra gasket should go in spot #1, right? I won't hold you to it but that seems the most logical.
  17. Rebuilt the carb and it wont stay running for more than a minute without being choked... Taken it off twice and cleaned real good with carb cleaner and air. Replaced all fuel lines and filters. Also changed plugs. While searching the web I found this pic. My carb has an extra gasket between the pump body and the diaphragm. My question(s): 1. Should I take the extra gasket out like in the picture? 2. Should the extra gasket go in spot 1 or spot 2? (before or after the diaphragm)
  18. I was wondering about that but wasn't sure. Got it at lunch time... $8. BTW they called it a "zinc anode". :-/
  19. Trim tab! That's the one. Thanks. On the way to the marine store. I have to get on the water!!
  20. Changed the water pump yesterday and this part broke while screwing it back on. What's it's name?
