  1. Rippin' Lips on a Budget! Accurist Reel ($55 New) on a Bionic Blade that I bought used for $20... $75 total and get's the job done well!!
  2. my gosh... I about peed myself when I saw these... great post
  3. that is classic...
  4. ahhh, yes.... that must have been who was wispering in my ear last night: "You know, now you have an extra rod sitting around with no reel on it!! What are you going to do??" Luckily I lost the auction with 3 seconds to go....
  5. Wow, how can I even follow fourbizz's post???!! great post... anyway, took the wife fishing yesterday and had a good time. fished for about 3 hours and caught 7. I got 3 new poles and caught a fish on every one of them (although 5 of the 7 came on one pole). It was also the first time I've ever pitched into timber with a jig, had the wife steer and I was able to practice this technique. caught one. overall, just fun... 5 of the fish were caught on a terminator spinnerbait
  6. It was great... I didn't have to re-tie once to switch to a different bait... what a difference
  7. So, a buddy of mine is HOOKED on the BPS Pro Qualifier rods (rightfully so). Everytime they have gone on sale for $79 he gets one or two. So they went on sale again and figured he would go get more. Wife said he needs to get rid of some old rods first, SO...... I scored 2 Bionic Blades and 1 Extreme Rod for $60! They are the old models without the soft reel seat, but they are still light and sensitive. Went fishing today and caught a fish on all three of them... 7' Extreme, Heavy Action (BC) - Jigs, Frogs 7' Bionic, M/H Action (BC) - Spinning, Cranking 6'6" Bionic, M/H Action (Spinning) - Topwater Woo hoo! I have another BPS rod (6'6" M/H) that is used for worms, etc... Sorry to ramble, just excited that I now have a pretty well rounded aresenal! ;D
  8. Yes, just used one today with 1/2oz Jig. 7' Extreme, Heavy Action 30lb PowerPro...
  9. Hear Hear!!! I use braid for everything...
  10. It depends on what equipment you will be using it with. If you are using a spinning combo, I prefer 20lb (6lb diameter), either PowerPro or Spiderwire Stealth. If you are using a casting combo, I would at least use 30lb (8lb diameter) in PowerPro. However, I too will be trying the new "Translucent" Spiderwire.....
  11. What has been your experience with these rods? Are the old rods just as good as the new ones? A buddy of mine has two of the older ones ('05 or '06) for sale and said he would let them go for $25 each. I haven't seen them yet, he just told me over the phone. Did they always have the XPS balancing option? What is the reel seat like on the old ones? (I know the new ones have the nice soft reel seat) Do you have a pic of one? Any thoughts are appreciated!
  12. by the way reelmech, those are some awfully pretty rods you have for sale there!
  13. Thanks for the response reelmech but I was referring to the handle side. This is the screw that I was missing! Sorry for the crappy cell phone picture. Hopefully this can help someone in the future. Apparantley these reels come from the factory insufficiently lubricated. I bought the reel new and my first few outings noticed a minor "grinding" noise and feel... I believe the noise was coming from the guide gears... put some grease on all the gears and now the reel is amazing! it's amazing what a little maintenance can do. (just didn't think I needed to do it right out of the box?!) :-/
  14. Trying to clean and lube my Accurist CX and can't get the right cover off, is there a trick? I've removed all three screws as well as handle, drag, etc... and nothing!? Do I just need to pry ever so gently? :-[ or is there a screw I'm missing? any help will be appreciated!!!
  15. anyone ever use one of these? seems interesting... bass like to ambush other fish that are feeding... gimmick? http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_104472_100005003_100000000_100005000_100-5-3
  16. Classic! Those Sway Back's look very nice as well! Haven't tried one yet... and yes, these are the Chug Bug's! Drive's the fish here crazy and the strike is usually pretty impressive. Catch Largemouths and Peacocks on them...
  17. There's really no point to this post, just bought a couple more and figured I share. What's your "Go To" for topwater?
  18. First, WELCOME! Second, Go Colts! Oh yeah, and carpeting's not that hard... just takes patience. Also, if you want to keep the original seats, take the seats to a local shop who does upholstery. Good Luck! Post some pics of the boat!
  19. ...and THEN follow ReelMech's advice. ;D All I know is that the LP100 I bought was a waste of time and money. yeah, I owned a solene for about 3 days and returned it when the thumb bar and drag broke... within 3 days!!! also, I could literally feel the reel flex in my hand when hooking 10lb+ fish... I do purchase on a budget which is why I tried the Solene in the first place. For not much more I was able to get the Accursit and am extremely satisfied... no flex, no issues at all....
  20. You need to take the left side off and remove the spool. Once that is out of the way, you will see a screw holding the right cover on. Take that screw out (and everything on the right side) and it will come right off.
  21. no, not at all....
