  1. ok, i've added a new choice... the Accurist II. These are on tackle warehouse for $75 and used for around $50 in great condition...
  2. I was just wondering... I am in the market for a new bc and was wondering if the graphite frames are junk or will last a long time? what's your experience. Graphite is lighter too, correct? So why is aluminum so much better? Perhaps a stupid question, if so leave a stupid answer... :-X
  3. no better place to go for answers!! true experience speaking through these threads....
  4. I will not Shimano pimp, but I will Plueger pimp as they are in the same price range... the trion and the president have wihtstood MANY brutal battles with a variety of fish and I honestly don't think you will find more bang for your buck... combined with 6/20 spiderwire, it's a lethal combo. with little to no maintenance these reels will last for years.... http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_51666_100001002_100000000_100001000_100-1-2 http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_58697_100001002_100000000_100001000_100-1-2 i know, i know... you asked for a pizza and I gave you a cheeseburger but that's just my 2 cents... good luck ;D
  5. I'm trying to find a reliable baitcasting reel without breaking the bank. I want something that is strong and will last quite awhile...
  6. x2!! (Yes, he converted me) Only difference, for baitcasters I use orignal Hybrid, not Ultra Soft. 12lb has little stretch, very sensitive, and tough as nails! 15lb has more memory but still has the same characteristics....
  7. sorry, was clearing out my photobucket and forgot this one... updated! ;D I love this pic...
  8. ;D gotta love it... "Now go tell Mommy to do the same thing..."
  9. Anyone ever experience this? Pinnacle Solene. I just set the hook on a fish and the handle spun backwards for about a second... How can this be fixed?
  10. Yes, I have thought about using braid becuase I use braid on my spinning equipment... but I wasn't sure for slow presentations. I seem to catch more fish on a low vis line as the water is pretty clear and the fish are slightly pressured around here...
  11. 2000 Cherokee. Thanks for the advice guys... I might try to tow someone elses boat before I decide although I think I would be fine with a 16-17ft glass. I spoke with my dad who has a Wrangler and he pulled his 20ft Big-O and never had to use 4wd....
  12. Round or low pro? What gear ratio? What lb test line? I'm currently using a round BPS 5.2:1 baitcaster with 15lb Yo-Zuri hybrid. It's a great reel for hoisting bass out of cover BUT I am having trouble casting light weights such as a 1/8th ounce Texas rig. Is a 5.2:1 preffered over a 6.3:1 for this type of fishing? Will a low pro bc cast this thick line very well? Is a low profile reel strong enough for thick cover fishing? I was thinking of the Plueger Criterion which has 5.1:1. Just seeing what you guys think....
  13. Well I can't give away ALL my secrets... : but I can tell you I have caught fish in every part of the lake from the north end to the south end... ;D are you in a boat or on the shore?
  14. check out this link... some pretty good info. http://floridafisheries.com/forecast/nwr.html
  15. Welcome! I live walking distance to Tradewinds park and love fishing it... It is smoking in the early AM. We are usually on the water by 6:30 and throw all topwater until ol' fireball is high in the sky! then switch to a 7-8 inch plastic worm. I've caught many fish in there with the occasional 5-7lb'er... tight lines!
  16. woo hoo!! i guess mine would be the newer version with 6 bearings instead of 5? or just a different model all together?
  17. ok, it's definately a BPS reel... here is an ebay listing of the qualifier series... http://cgi.ebay.com/QUALIFIER-1000H-6-1-1-ROUND-BAIT-CAST_W0QQitemZ230221209736QQihZ013QQcategoryZ108153QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  18. actually, I think you may be right.... looking at how I "palm" the reel, i could easily press the button. I'm used to round reels and I just tried this low profile for the first time. the strike was intense so I may have become a little excited lol oh yeah... it was a Pinnacle Solene. i'm was satisfied with it's performance until towards the end of the day, the trigger button broke and fell off.... I guess you get what you pay for... :-[
  19. So I went fishing yesterday and on the first cast hook a 3.5lb peacock bass, woo hoo! while I'm hoisting this guy in, I feel the reel "slip" and I get a nasty backlash! I kept reeling (obviously) and landed the fish, but after the excitement I spent 5 minutes picking out the nest.... What happened?
  20. also is there any place to buy ultra-soft besides online? I live nowhere near a Cabelas and BPS doesn't carry it...
