Well.... I had a great day of fishing this day... and caught by far the most odd fish I have caught in my life. However I wanted to kick myself at the end of the day for forgetting my didgital camera. I also caught this fish when it was almost completely dark and had to have my friend take the picture with his phone. I was fishing with two friends this day and neither of them had a camera. Also this is probably the only trip I made all year without my camera.... I caught this guy about 3 weeks ago....

The fish in the picture is some kind of koi or goldfish that is pure white with amazingly long fins. Two other people have caught and released this exact same fish. The fish weighed a little over 9 LBS but the fight was not all that great. I think this koi's long fins hinderd him in the fight. Still it was a realy cool catch...

Yeah the picture is terrible.....forgot the camera. My face isnt even in the photo so realy its not realy proof I caught it so youl have to take my word for it. With a camera phone and no flash there was no way we could get a picture of me and this fish so my friend had to zoom in on the fish....

Do you specifically target koi ponds? Seems like some people would get mad if there expensive stocked Koi were being fished.

No.... I actually have caught all of my kois from two public lakes. One of them was origionally stocked with bass, catfish. bluegills, koi and is catch and release only...

The lake I caught this fish out of was stocked with bass, catfish, bluegills and the kois were put in there a long time ago but were never meant to be put there. I think they grew too big for someones pond and the owner dumped them in the public lake. Also there is a HUGE population of common carp in this lake. I catch about 10 common carp for every koi I catch in this place. The population of common carp and koi has realy taken off. This lake is the best carp hole in the San Diego area.

To be honest the most important thing is to find a school of carp while they are feeding. They seem to travel in schools. Once you find them you can catch them with small bread balls, dough balls, or sweet corn on a medium size hook. I usually use owner hooks. Once I have found a school of feeding carp I will sometimes chum the area. I heard this isnt legal in SOME lakes though but in these two places its ok.  This keeps the carp feeding in the same spot and will attract more....Carp fishing is actually the most simple type of fishing there is...The key is to just FIND a school thats feeding...

They like french fries.

Get a bag of frozen french fries and use them for bait after you defrost a bunch.

Never tried McDonalds' fries but I guess they would work.  

We have a Koi pond in the back yard full of butterfly's truly an amazing and beautiful fish. The kids hand feed them.

Our fish love watermelon,if you run out of "chum" try out the melon!

If you guys think fishing is expensive try out Koi ponds they too get very costly!

They definitely look a lot better when they were young than when they reach 9 lbs.  Unique catch nonetheless.
