Deep water fishing from shore.

Featured Replies

I fish from shore and the temperatures are getting a little warmer here, high 40s low 50s. Now I know if i wanted a chance of catching any fish i need to be able to fish deep is that possible from fishing from shore? If so how should i go about catching fish in this kind of weather? This guy lets us use his dock and we can get our lures out a little deeper but I'm still not sure if it gives us a chance at catching any bass. So is there anything i can do to be able to catch some?

40's and 50's is darn near freezing for us down here in Florida but I would suggest using a T-rig or Carolina rig worm and fish very slow.  Try and find the drop off or structure.

I know this might sound crazy but there is a company that makes biodegradable egg weights that come apart once they hit the water. So, if you add a couple of weights to your line, launch it out there and then the egg weights come apart,  all that is left would be your lure sitting in the middle of the lake in deep water. Other than that, I would say find someone with a kayak that would be willing to paddle your bait way out to the middle of the lake and drop it. Or, you could also rig a remote control boat to take you bait way out there. Anyways, just a thought.

The only thing you can do is take a lot of time and fish a bottom-bouncing lure (jig, worm, tube, grub) and figure out where the deepest water is in the body of water your fishing.

Making really long casts wont get the job done.  I fish a very shallow pond (deepest part is a 6 foot hole), all I have to do is fish that area because I know they will be there in colder temps.

What im saying is find the deepest water you can fish and fish it.  Thats all you can do in your situation.

Good Luck

You must fish the pond at least twice weekly and it will come to you. I have found out the whole bottom contour of my favorite pond and can draw a topo map of it straight from my head. I have done this by looking at the water when it is clear. This gives me a small view of the bottom contour. Then I use different lures like carolina rigs to feel the bottom.

After that fish breaklines and brushpiles, deep or shallow depending on water clarity.
