My buddy and I took the jon boat out to do some Everglades canal exploration around Florida City. Our primary target was peacock bass , but we couldn't help to switch to fishing for LM bass after seeing the size of some of them in the clear deep waters of the limestone based canals.

After, portaging the jon boat to some less pressured waters we hit pay dirt. Ended up catching about 12LM between 1-3lbs and 1 peacock about 2lbs, but I pulled out a 6lb 13oz bucket mouth with an old school purple fire tail squirming worm. Had a similar size fish hit and then follow a lucky craft crankbait to the boat, but she just left us :'( as it swam away slowly. In the end we realized an afternoon isn't enough to fish the canals so we plan on going back!

Nice outing.  The Everglades are very adventurous to explore, just be careful because its easy to get lost.

Gnats were out yesterday and that's my cue to pack it in for freshwater.  Bait has been showing up in the icw and the snook are roaming now, bite will be on any time now.
