Day At Spruce Run w/ Nughuffer 420... What species of fish????

Featured Replies

Hey guys today me and Nughuffer went to meet for the first time and fish.  It was a blast! Since I've been getting skunked every time I been on that lake I was so happy not to have been skunked today.  Today I cought a 2lb 8oz Hybrid.  It was hooked use a LC Sp 100.  We tried to get a pic but the camera didn't work.  Then we took one on my phone but accidently got deleted.

Then later in the day in between 2:30pm and 4pm The Nug hooked up with 2 fish.  We were working the 2 points that Zel pointed us too. I say they are smallies but we both aren't to sure.  The reason being is that there heads and mouths look deformed.  So we ask for your identifing skills.  Thanx

Sorry about the gore and lost fish.  The Nug was using a wacky rig and both bass inhaled it.

No prob bro don't worry.  Next time we'll get it.  It was a great time dude.  your new screen name should be Na-gut-hook  LOL

Great job man good to see you guys are on some fish. Fishing gets a little easier for the most part once you learn your water. The fishes head might be dented from the spawn. I know males bang their heads against the females side to push the eggs out. That is the only reason I could think of.

Get Honest: Sharbite took a bite out of the smallie

Really dude That sounds like me in bed. lol So are they smallies? I am headed back tonight. I was out today for a picnic but the family were more interested in boating then fishing. Robby how is your leg? We can get you on the water if you get an itch to fish. Let me know dude hope you get better

I till havn't hooked up with a large mouth though.

HA yeah in that one pic all i can look at is my f-ing double chin. It's amazing the women let me in their company.

So i've decided Robbie is right about the dented heads. Looking back at the pictures those couple at the end of the day were def smallies.

yep, smallies for sure. The head thing is weird though. I'd imagine the spawn thing might have something to do with it. Did they all look like that?

yeah i only snagged two at the end of the day and even before i had em in the boat i was sure they were smallies, but that dent in the head was so distinct and i had never seen anything like it, i was sure they were another species.  it's just that everything else about them was very smallie-esque, which is why i was confused about them.  the pattern, the fight and even the environment which was a very rocky drop off.

fish can have weird physical characteristics from mutations, old injuries, or just strange behavior. I caught a smallie one time that was missing half of its upper jaw...could have been an injury or a mutation, who knows.

Yea it was great we were puzzled. When we were looking at it Rich was like I don't understand a carp screwed a smallies LMAO thats what it kind of looked like.

Hey is it true if a bass swallows the bait that there is other bass in the area?  I know its hard to tell b/c most the time the trebles don't get past there lips.  as well as the jigs but has anyone heard this?

Keep a can of Mt Dew with you and dump it down the fishes throat next time it starts bleeding. It will almost instantly clot it.

Dam I wish I new that too.  I hate to see a fish die just for our pleasure.   I will have the soda on board by the next I go out.

thanx
