Rage hog, Smokin' Rooster, baby craw, Eeliminator... My experiences with them all..

Featured Replies

Over the past few months I have had the privilege of trying some of the new Rage Tail baits that came out at Icast this year. I am happy to say that I am pleased with all of them.  ;D

The first one that I tried was the Rage Hog and it was the one that I happened to spend the most time with yet. I have never really fished a bait like this before so I was not sure how to fish it. I decided to throw it behind a little weight and pitch it around pads, and weedbeds, leaving it sit on the bottom for a little while before moving on. I had great success doing this and was instantly hooked. :D

Next one that I decided to try was the Eeliminator. For this bait I threw it weightless so I could fish it topwater. What a phenomenal bait! I chose to fish this one very slowly just lifting the tip of my rod ever so slightly to bring the bait back to me and the action that this one has is so surprising. I absolutely love the wiggle that it has. I also think this particular bait is going to be awesome in cooler water as well because of the wide wobble that it has. This bait rates right up there with my favorites and rates right up there with the shad for me. ;D

The next one that I tried was the Smokin' Rooster. I also love this one. I like to fish this one weighted and swim it. I have also fished this along the bottom with a pause and retrieve type method as well. I have had luck fishing it both ways. The thing that shocked me the most about this bait was the way that the fish just slammed it. They were definitely not indecisive about wanting this one. There was no nibbling going on here at all. I loved it!  ;D

Last but not least was the small craw. I have been holding on to this bait to try it on the river for smallies. It seemed like the perfect bait to throw behind a nice little finesse jig. Lets just say it was. I have had a blast with it and the smallies sure like it too. I have not had the chance to get to the river as much as I wanted to this year because of the high water but every time I have had the time this was the one that I threw and it has not disappointed me yet. It may be smaller but it still has the action of the big guys. ;D

I have to try the thumper yet but I expect their will be good things to come from it as well.

I have put together a little slide show of some of the fish that I have caught using these new baits. Hope you enjoy.
