Hook Bonnets

Who uses hook bonnets? I have them on everything I have that has a treble, except if it has feathers on it. They keep your baits from tangling but taking them off when you want to switch baits is a pain. I'm thinking of just pulling them all off. :-/

I use them in the same way. I think they are invaluable if you have multiple baits in contact with each other. If I had enough storage to have each treble hooked bait in its own division of a tray, then I wouldn't use them, but since I have to put 2, 3, 4, and 5 baits into one little tray division, I use them and I sincerely think that even though you have to take them off before you tie on, it really saves time.

FTO harbait boxes will fix the tangling issue.  ;)

Yeah I have the Falcon crank boxes too and I used them for most cranks. The only exceptions are FAT cranks (you can fit them the FTO Deep driver box, but there is a lot of wasted space). For fat cranks (Manns-4, wiggle warts) I would suggest picking up the Plano boxes.

I also use them. Not only do they keep lures from becoming entangled, they also reduce the risk of getting hooked.

I use them, too.

Helps keep the treble hooks out of the seats, carpet and the car's carpet.

Yes, they are a pain but stopping to get the pliers to rip the hooks out of the seat or carpet on the boat is a bigger pain.  ;)

I use them so I can fit more baits in each of the storage compartments.  I can carry a lot more baits with a smaller tacklebox when I use them.

I use to have one bait in each compartment but those days are over. Hook bonnets let you double-up without all the tangle. If I have a crank attatched to the keeper on my rod I'll put a hook bonnet on the free hanging treble, keeps it from scratching up an expensive rod.

I've never used them, but this year I entirely stopped worrying about bait separation. I think it started when I saw an episode of City Limits and Ike's tackleboxes had no dividers, and about 5 times as many crankbaits as I've ever seen in a single Plano. I thought, "Well if it works for Ike, I guess it should work for me too."

I have become much better at jiggling the lures around to get them un-stuck, but it takes some practice  ;D Definitely easier not worrying about having each lure in it's designated place.

I know if I bought hook bonnets, they'd end up on the floor, then in my trunk, then eventually in the garbage or on eBay after my annual car-cleaning routine  8-)

I use them on the lure that tied on.I accidentally caught myself on a good jacket of mine and couldn't unhook. So now any free treble that swings on my rod gets a hook bonnet to keep that from happening again.

It also helps getting the rod out of the car easier with those hooks covered.
