Featured Replies

sorry if this is the wrong forum to put this in but i thought it was best suited for the question

i am looking to plan a fishing trip as soon as college lets out (first week of may) however i am undecided on where i want to go and was hoping for input on good bodies of water nearby i live in pennsylvania near stroudsburg and am looking to get a solid 2-3 day fishing trip in hopefully filled with catching bass

any input on bodies of water within 5 hours that are truly good fishing locations would be greatly appreciated ill be fishing with my girlfriend from a 14 foot canoe with a fish finder

thanks for any information its greatly appreciated

Just look on google maps for lakes around where you live, then see if there are depth maps on your state's fish and game website.  I do it all the time, and I've found a few ponds that I plan on fishing a lot this year.

Not sure how far into PA Stroudsberg is, but Cayuga Lake is in central NY (Finger Lakes).

My folks had a place there for years growing up.  Great smallmouth fishing and LMB as well.  Not to mention perch, walleye, northern pike, and lake trout.  I caught many smallmouth over the years from this lake.  I never fished any of the other finger lakes but I am sure they have great fishing as well.  Good luck!!

I'm not very familiar with northeast fishing, however; last June my brother and I took a trip to Paradox Lake in the Adirondacks. There is one area on the lake known as the "the narrows." We caught all kinds of largemouth up to 4.5 lbs and small pike on frogs (strike king rage tail). It was a blast. We were also fishing out of a canoe.

If you like smallies, then a float trip down the Susquehanna would get your mind right!
