The hot weather and the daily afternoon thunderstorms are the beginning of the best fishing time for the Florida Everglades. This time of the year usually produces the biggest bass and often the most bass for the average South Florida angler. This is the time I will break out the top water frogs and big shad crank and jerk baits, which are always a big fish favorite. This season I have incorporated the MW 11.5" monster worm into the bag of tricks. It is made by JD's Custom Baits. It is a big bass killer! I'am hearing rumors that the research and development team at JD's is field testing a 16" worm at a local south Florida tournament this weekend. I want to see that worm!

My guest this trip was Steve and his son Clay Killgore from Birmingham, Al. Clay just graduated from high school and is off to the University of Alabama. His dad wanted to do something cool with him before he leaves for school. I feel bad for him cause he is gonna get beat by both Florida and LSU this year. Both of these guys were great anglers but Clay had crazy madfish skills.

I have had bigger bass days this year but this trip produced a better quantity of bigger bass. My tip of the week is to go large and see what happens.

Great fish again Shane.  The fishing down here has been great lately.  Numbers and size are getting much better.  How the heck are you going to fish that 16" monster.  I've got some 14" worms here at the house and they're just horrifically large, but they do catch some large fish.
