Trophy Country, Missouri

ghoti, his brother Mike, Long Mike and I met for a great weekend

in central Missouri. Trophy Country is a sportsman's paradise:

http://www.trophycountry.com/Fishing.html

ghoti and I fished Friday afternoon for about five hours and

fifty bass! Saturday started off with a great breakfast followed

by a two hour topwater bite. The rest of the day included

shallow cranks, soft plastics and jigs. ghoti said the fishing

was slow, but I guess previous trips have spoiled him. We

had "Fish On!" all day including three doubles!

The fishing, the company and the meals were fantastic!

ghoti was our chef with inspired dishes for two dinners and

breakfast Saturday.

Check out Trophy Country for yourself, I know you will like it!

Awesome!  Sounds like ya'll had a blast!  Where are all the pictures?  You mean to tell me you weren't the camera man?

We did have a blast. And, I did not take a single picture. Didn't see anybody else with camera in hand either. my mistake. I intended to at least get a group shot, but just didn't get around to it. Next time, I guess.

We didn't catch any really camera worthy fish. Lots of fish, but no big ones. I got the biggest of the trip on the first cast of the last day. Kent and long Mike left Sunday morning, while my brother and I fished until 1:00. The first cast, with a 5/16oz Evo jig, black/black skirt, with blue Rage Craw trailer, got me a fat 3 pounder.

By the way Kent, I took the jig rod home with me without paying you for it. I know I have your home address, but can't seem to find it. PM it to me and I'll get a check in the mail ASAP.

Kent sold a rod?   :o   Now he only has 26 setups! LOL  Sounds like fun still! Nothing better than good company on the water!

Yeah...Sold a rod I never actually fished!

Gotta have a NRX for the niche, just saving my pennies.

26? I only saw 15 or 16, on this trip. ;D

I got to try out his super-tuned Calcutta 100, bought from a forum member. What a great casting reel. Kent has it on a jig rod, and the first cast I made I had to jam my thumb on the spool to keep from tossing the jig 20 yards up into the woods. If I had that reel it would be mounted on my custom deep crank stick. 'twould be awesome.

On a different note, the Sheriff of the Shimano Posse was once again heard making very nice comments about a Daiwa reel.

Sheesh, a couple more trips with me, and I'll make a Daiwa man out of him. ;D ;D ;D

Sounds like a great trip guys.

i hope you bent the elbows some.

Bent elbows? Me? Kent? Long Mike? Are you kidding?

My brother and I had a little breakdown in communication. He was supposed to bring the wine for both dinners. He didn't bring any at all.

We had to make do with beer. Long Mike of course had his infamous box-o-wine. I mixed up a few Old-fashioned's Saturday night.

I heard Kent made a stop by the store on his way up for the trip!  And you know you will NEVER turn the Shimano Sheriff!!

That's what fishing is all about in my book, Good friends having Good times on the water

Fantastic! It sounds like you guys ate well had lots of fun and caught some fish too. That is what it is all about, congrats!

Based on previous experience at Trophy Country the fishing was slow.  I caught maybe, twenty on Saturday.  The slow fishing was offset by the camaraderie and the great food.  Kent, I was able to remove the "Backlash From Hell."  It took me an hour and fifteen minutes.
