I went fishing at Landen Lake today. It's a small lake that only residents of Landen can fish.

I was fishing from shore in a small little cove and I see a guy with his little kid (probably 3-4 years old).

Everything seemed normal until I saw that they had BB guns in their hands.

The kid was screaming, "I want to shoot some fish."

I was thinking that they couldn't possibly have come here to shoot little bluegill, but they did.

They started to unload rounds on the gills that were only a couple feet from shore.

Not sure if they hit any, but it was still a little strange that a dad would let his little kid shoot some fish.

What would you guys have done in this situation?

I don't have a clue. Never seen anything like that.

Nothing to do, really. Just shake your head, and wonder how some parents will teach and encourage their kids to do stuff like that. My guess is, is that the father has no respect for wildlife, or conservation, so why should the kid?

I agree with Daddyodo as well.

I can't believe someone in Landen didn't call the National Guard for possible terrorist attack.  Residents around that lake are a little stuffy in my experience.   

On another note, how was the fishing?  I used to fish that lake a lot when I was a teen before they drained it

The fishing is horrible now. You can catch a couple dinks everyday, but nothing to write home about.

About a month and a half ago I caught two four pounders back to back, but the bite has been off since.

Fishing in the early spring is a whole different story though.

You can catch your fair share of bass and the crappie fishing is incredible.

I would have asked "are you having any luck with that shooting fish in a barrel test?"
