Do all Bass travel in schools?

Featured Replies

Or is it just strippers or hybrids? Yesterday I seen a school of 6-8 inch bass passing buy, It was really neat. Are Bass loners aswell?

From what I have read, younger bass will school (small).  Older bass (big) are grumpy old loners.

Largemouth dont seem to school like a striper will, but since their favorite meals ofter school(shad) I guess you could say the largemouth will feed in large groups occasionally

During The dog days of summer you can find small schools 4-6 fish, most  are the same size so they could be anywhere from 1-5 pounds, bigger fish tend to stay alone.

Largemouth: Small fish, small schools. Big largemouth are loners.

Smallmouth: Same size, year class sometimes school, but bigger bass are usually loners.

White bass: Usually in large schools.

Kentucky: Often large schools.

Stripers: Smaller fish are usually in schools. Big ones scare everything in fresh water, they're usually alone.

Yes ,they do school.Last fall I chased three seperate schools.I'd wait for the shad to bust the surface, then motor over  and  rip a jerkbait through. Each school's size was different. One school were yearlings, one was one pounders, and the third was a little bigger that the one pounders.caught eleven in about 30 minutes.
